DEAR FOOD AND WINE LOVERS!
After almost a year of Covid, lockdowns and stress for nearly everyone, there are very few of us left who aren't utterly fed up. It has become unbearable, and even those who have shown understanding for the necessary measures are starting to lose patience. Unfortunately, this has led to a great deal of political point-scoring. On social media, those in charge are portrayed as if they had unleashed the virus themselves. The only consolation for Kurz & Kogler: governments in every country are facing the same thing. Perhaps that's what inspired us to put a fictional character on the cover: Don Camillo, who in his eternal struggle against his communist rival Peppone often lost his composure too – but always managed to find a happy ending, usually over a shared plate of pasta. Yes, pasta! This wonderful carbohydrate bomb became the number one culinary comfort food during the self-sufficient days of the pandemic. Reason enough to explore this dish from every angle. You'll find some wonderful personalities in this issue: the world's best chef Massimo Bottura from Modena, wine giant Piero Antinori, and Henkell Freixenet. Did you know that the Wiesbaden company has built the world's largest sparkling wine group? We are delighted to be your publishing companion even in these times! In 2020, Falstaff gained tens of thousands of new social media followers – something we are especially proud of. We have already broken through the two-million monthly visits mark, a manifold increase in a very short time. Please continue to stay with us – times will get better, and the return of our world of enjoyment and travel is approaching!
