I am delighted to present the entrepreneurial family Wolf’s new winery in Steinbach near Gamlitz in southern Styria, which was officially unveiled in the summer with a wine festival. The historically significant vineyard, on which this new venue for wine lovers has been created, was first mentioned in monastery archives in 1196, which served as inspiration for the name Domaine 1196, the state-of-the-art wine cellar, where several wineries and brands now prepare and age their wines. Here, the fine wines of Domaine Wolf and Muster. Gamlitz, as well as the new product line called Domaine 1196, are produced under one roof. Of course, interested wine lovers can visit the premises and get a firsthand impression of how harmoniously and carefully the project blends into the beautiful landscape of southern Styria with a tour of the facility. Tastings are offered for visitors, with the wines available for purchase directly from the vineyard, and the new “Das Steinbach” restaurant with its own culinary offerings is one more reason to stay a little longer. Two top winemakers, highly acclaimed by Falstaff, ensure the high quality of the wine range, skillfully showcasing the unique characteristics of the southern Styria and central Burgenland regions. In their own vineyards as well as in Domaine 1196’s state-of-the-art cellar, they produce distinctive white and red wines that harmoniously combine origin, craftsmanship, and modern vinification. This portfolio is rounded off by innovative products such as the trendy vermouth and gin offered under the “Motif” brand.
